Being tight for time we decided to leave on Saturday arvo after I finished work... not such a bad idea if it weren't for us being a bit slow on the road, not having any accommodation booked and driving in to the middle of nowhere at nighttime.... Anyway after a few late night calls to full caravan parks and expensive backpackers and motels, we decided to go all the way to Northhampton (past Geraldton) to stay at the local park in a permanent site. The caravan was actually beautiful and fully equipped with 2 double beds and 4 bunks!
Hitting the road the next morning we passed the turn off to shark bay/monkey mia and had some fun at the billabong roadhouse:
We also stopped at some random plateau lookout before lunch in good old Carnarvon. By now the weather was humid and hot. felt very strange to drive through such a dramatic climate change. jeans in the morning, short shorts in the arvo!
and then, just 2 km before our destination of Coral Bay, we blew a tyre.... Have to admit though, I've always wanted to change one.. even if it meant unloading the whole boot and re packing just to unload again in 2 km!
Good as new! Girl power!
Final destination = Coral bay backpackers.
