Day 2: Dubai to Paris

I can honestly say I have never seen a breakfast spread quite like it. I'm sure they exist everywhere, but never in front of me. It's times like these that I wish I had an extra stomach. Just for breakfast there was a FULL French patisserie spread (all the breads, sweet and savoury, and the sweets - macaroons, petit fours etc.) then the granola and muesli (portioned off into pre presented jars with yoghurt and fresh fruit), heaps of fruits and cereals, cold meats and salads, lollies, and hot stuff (eggs, gormet sausages, herring etc etc..) too awkwardly spread out for pictures though... Anyway it was endless and delicious!

Then I got a car to drive me to the Palm/Atlantis. Stunning sight seeing drive, but pictures from the ground will never do it justice, so here's some stolen ones instead...lets dream together....

Then some yummy working wifi at the airport (the waiting goes surprisingly quick with an ipad!) and another glorious cat stretch flight.

First ever touch down I Europe... Cotton tails bounding in the grass next to the plane landing and the same again for the train into town :)

From train station in town a 15min stroll to my home for the next week with the lovely Diane (and her 3 cats). I have a feeling ill be like her at her age (or maybe I just wish it so )... Anyway so this place is 17th century building! and she has it decorated in antiques to match. Spacious for Paris (at least the 3 rooms I have to myself are). Diane is a recently retired camera woman/photographer mother of two (one currently hitchhiking in turkey, other parachuting in France somewhere) born in hilltop village out of Nice, who spend a large proportion of her life travelling - mainly to Afghanistan, Pakistan etc...

After putting bags down I needed dinner (even at 11pm) so off to a Mexican restaurant next door for my first meal in France. After I got over the fear of trying to speak French. Still not over it.
